I'm baaaaack!

I would like to thank everyone who left me a sweet comment ((Sidenote: I LOVE replying directly to the people who leave me blogger comments. Have you added your e-mail address to your blogger profile? If not, I am receiving this ---> "" for your contact info and it makes me sad that I can't reply directly to you!! CHANGE IT pretty please!!!)), tweet or e-mail over the past couple of days. I am going to reply to all of you tomorrow when I have a minute to breathe, think and formulate proper sentences (Oh, and while I'm taking a second to mention my foggy brain, I should also ask ya'll to please excuse this entire rambling-about-nothing blog post, too)

So, we've officially been on American soil for a little over 24 hours and it feels a-mazing! Today consisted of more cleaning and unpacking (frig, can I get a break already!?!?!?!) and grabbing REAL Subway for lunch, and a large meat lovers pizza and buffalo chicken tenders for dinner with the fubby. (Oh PS - about that 40 day no white diet...I'm restarting tomorrow...Did anyone actually really believe that I would make it for forty days straight - through the end of a hockey season, team parties, girls goodbye nights out, fan parties, and airline food? Week one was a success. This past week = FAILURE!!)

I'm a crazy person and start back at work tomorrow at 10am. It was a good idea at the time when I agreed to start back 36 hours after returning home...but now I'm thinking not so much! I'll be waitressing and bartending at a yummy seafood restaurant through the summer - I've worked there for 10 years and feel very lucky and blessed that they put up with me coming and going all of the time.

TJ and I decided that Brutus and I will stay home next season until October (mainly because I learned my lesson that European pre-season is BRUTAL), so I'll be able to work for the next six months and save some moolah for the wedding. I honestly cannot wait to be a working part of society again. Sitting around for 7 months on a mini-vacation sounded like a fabulous idea when we left in August -- but I am so ready to be back at it and have a purpose in life and schedule again.

Speaking of schedules, I've been meaning to ask everyone who blogs - How do you schedule blogging into your day? Do you allow yourself certain times, certain days? I really didn't start taking blogging seriously until December so I'm still trying to find and figure out different techniques that work for me in regards to prioritizing my time here in blog'ville. From writing, editing, networking, checking in with favorites, leaving comments, etc - What works for you?

  1. "REAL Subway for lunch, and a large meat lovers pizza and buffalo chicken tenders for dinner"

I love it! My go-to after being away is Subway or Taco Bell (horrible, I know).

Welcome home! :) How many days until the wedding?!

  2. Welcome back!

About scheduling blogging...when I know I'm going to be busy, I try to write my posts in advance and then schedule them to post during the week. That way there are posts and I don't have to worry about writing them:0

  3. So glad you made it safely. We have been dealing with sickness here and then a four day hoiday for paul. Anyhoo for blogging I tend to scheudaul tuesdays, wednesday, saturday. I then write in the am when the kids go to school.

  4. First of all, welcome back =) & secondly, I would have to say in terms of "fitting" blogging into my day, I pretty much blog when I'm in the mood or I happen to be on my laptop.

I guess, setting time aside to blog is a pretty good idea, but, I feel by setting "time aside" means that my thoughts are now being forced. & if I can't really think of anything, I Google quotes or post pictures.

  5. So glad you made it back to the States safely!

For the most part I blog daily M-F. And when I have a busy week ahead of me I use the schedule post feature and do them ahead of time.

  6. Oy... I haven't figured that one out myself yet. I'd love to hear some responses to that question!

And now a song for you....

    Guess who's back
    Back again
    Kymmy's back
    Tell a friend
Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back
guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back..

Glad you all made it safely home to American soil. I hope Brutus wasn't too traumatized. Good luck tomorrow on your first day back at work!

  7. Welcome back chicadee! I am glad you made it back to the US safely. I hope you guys can get settled soon - moving is always such a hassle, especially when changing countries or even continents. Have a good first day at work!

  8. Welcome back to the US! Glad you're excited to be back! How are TJ and Brutus taking it? I mean, are they loving it too?

As for blogging, I'm still getting used to the talking about my life and what's on my mind portions, so I mainly do weekly stuff like Wordless Wednesday and Thankful Thursday. I'm trying to change, though, but don't have time between school, work, homework, and working in the Writing Center. I think I might just have to delete the time-consuming games on Facebook that I play and schedule a time to write normal entries, like twice a week or something. I have Outlook and Google Calendars - maybe you can do that? Both have options for reminders. Just figure out when you have time in your schedule and do it. Well, that's my two cents.

  9. Yay! - So glad you are enjoying it back in the States - I am so craving boneless buffalo wings from Chillis now :)

As for blogging, I have been bad and haven't posted in a week now due to crazy exams, presentations and assignments being due, but my last test was last night so tonight I'm planning to start again :) I don't schedule my posts, I normally just post at night when I'm home for work and feel that I have something worth writing about :)

  10. OH! I am so happy that you are back at home and in a happy place :) Eat away, the diet can come back when you are sick of food at home (well, you would never be sick, but just until you have had your fill :)). I cannot believe you start work tomorrow, crazy! I know you are excited!!! Can't wait to hear how you like it back there.
Oh, and how I schedule in blogging. Silly, there is nothing else to do here in Germany! Haha, jk

  11. Glad you're safe and sound! When I first quit my job to figure out my self-employment, I had a mini-vacation. And while it was awesome at first, it got old pretty quickly.

As for blogging - I don't have a set schedule, but I tend to try to keep up with blogs daily or else it never happens. Comments on my own blog - every couple days. And scheduling posts for the week helps SO much!

  12. Glad you made it home safely! I don't schedule blog time but I usually do it around the same time everyday. The last thing that I want is for my blog to turn into a job. I love it so much and I don't want to feel the obligation of a job.

  13. Yay, welcome home! So glad you made it back safe and sound and all is well!
I blog in the mornings and at night...sometimes in between, but there is so much I need to get done, so I really should stick to certain times!
Have fun at work!! Hugs xxx

  14. Welcome home! I haven't figured out any type of online schedule yet; especially with a two-year-old running around. Sometimes I can sneak online to read blogs quickly while he's playing (like now), other times I don't get online till after he goes to bed!

  15. I'm back on US soil too from Japan and boy it was sooo weird first getting here eating the food and stuff. My travels home were crazy! I know what you mean by trying to find that purpose in life with a schedule...I'm working on the schedule part right now. :)

  16. Oh my gosh, I can't even go back home to Texas without having to eat all the things I've been missing...I can't imagine how much I would have to eat if I re-entered the country!

Congrats on being back and being back to work! The thing I loved most about my time waitressing was that I never had to really work out. I was losing weight by just running around all day at work. :)

  17. Welcome home! :)

Since I'm blogging everyday this year and my schedule is absolutely insane, I just kind of roll with the most convenient time for me. It's usually last on my "to-do" list but I get the job done. My suggestion is don't rely on one specific time because that's just extra stress! Do what works for you.

  18. Hey Kym!
    Warm wishes sent your way!

I hope you have gotten to enjoy your time back home! About the comment thing, I don't know if my e-mail is attached, is there a way to do that?

Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting, sorry the posts have gotten so sporadic since spring break! Unfortunately there is no relief from it for the next couple weeks, school got super crazy once we returned.

Hope you are enjoying being home!

  19. Good to hear you are back safe and sound!!! You definitly need some rest too after all that travel and packing etc etc. I tend to blog when I get back from work (which is generally 6.00 ish) and on weekedns I tend to do when I have time on Sat but Sunday is morning before my favourite comment love day haha!!! I love comments!!! Good luck with the jet lag and work!

  20. No schedule here, but you already know that. I just fit it in when I can. And take notes in the meantime so I don't lose my brilliant ideas! ;)

So glad you're home. And that Brutus made it safe and sound, no water and all. Lemme know when you are up and running with a phone! Woo hoo, all new means of communication!

  21. I'm a newbie but glad you are 'home'!
I also struggle to fit the blogging sessions in. it's easy to post but also so easy to get caught up catching up on everyone's posts! I have allocated free time every morning whilst enjoying my morning tea and I have a cut-off time based on the day ahead... it's worked so far!

I love reading your thoughts and opinions and I do try to answer all comments and questions. If you would like to contact me directly feel free to email me at or find me on Instagram @_kymfox.
