Taking time to enjoy the little things.

I don't know why I always feel inclined to apologize when I don't pump out a new blog post each day...so today, I'm not going to apologize.

I've been awfully busy around here....living life, shall I say?

I've been applying clay and oatmeal face masks, painting my toes, soaking in bubble baths. I took time to clean the house top to bottom. I finally broke half way through a book that I've been reading since March. I enjoyed cocktails by the pool with some girlfriends. I've had amazing conversations with my Grandmother. I went on a last minute family boating trip yesterday.

I'm refreshed. The depression and pissedoff-ness I felt for weeks through June and into July is gone. I'm happy.

I've spent so much time building my blog for the past year...and as many of you who consider keeping a blog a part or full time job, that means spending a good chunk of your day writing, networking, advertising....and sitting inside on your butt.

And I simply can't do it anymore.

I need more excitement in my life, and sitting inside on the computer for up-teen hours a day isn't providing me with the spontaneous and unexpected moments that will ultimately become favorite memories when I look back on my life one day.

So, what does this mean for Travel Babbles? I won't be posting every day and I can't give you an approximate number of how many posts I will be publishing each week. If you stop following my blog, I understand. But if you stick around, I can promise you that the posts will be worth reading.

My blog isn't taking a back seat by any means, but I'd like to think of it more as coming along for the ride. The less I'm inside on the computer, the more I feel like I will be able to bring back to my writing...and in turn, I will be publishing much more meaningful and powerful content for both you and me.

  1. You go girl! I feel the same way! I would much rather be outside enjoying the sun and life then inside on my computer worrying about the blog. I'm looking forward to the new direction! xo Kels

  2. I totally hear ya! I feel the same way, wanting to "apologize" for lack of posts, but it's just NOT the way to do things if you're blogging for pleasure, right?

I think it's great that you are trying to find a balance between life and blogging. I know all too well how easy it is to lose track of time because you're busy blogging/reading blogs/networking...and suddenly you realize that you've just spent 6 hours in front of the computer. No bueno! :-\

So get out there, enjoy the sun, enjoy your love, and come back to us when it feels right. We'll still be here.

You're adorable, by the way...lookin' all cute your bikini!

    Have a beautiful day! xo

  3. Bravo, girl! Such a great reminder to enjoy the little things in life ... I try to do the same, especially when work and college can consume every minute of every day. Can't wait to read your new posts ... whenever they might come along!

  4. Amen sista!! :) You go out and enjoy life. I am loving that that cloud that had been following you for a while is slowing starting to clear out for sunny weather. Enjoy everything that is going on in life. Bloggyland will always be here waiting for ya :)

  5. Congratulations on taking some meaningful "me" time! Everyone needs that. I wish you the best. Definitely spend more time in the sun, enjoying life. I will not unfollow, I look forward to all of your posts no matter how spread out they are.

    Kindness is the best accessory,

  6. Good for you! Summer is an awesome time to take a break from the screen and get going on life. Have fun out there, and can't wait to read about all of your lovely times enjoying life!

  7. I saw your blog on For the Love of Blogs today. Your bulldog has an uncanny resemblence to my english bulldog, Brutus. Haha. They look like twins!!! Here's a post a did on him recently with some pictures. Haha, its so funny! http://tattoodhousewife.blogspot.com/2011/07/thoughts-for-brutus.html
I will say its kind of a sad post, but we're waiting for the biopsy results and are keeping are hopes up!

  8. I'm right there with you! I'm all about less time indoors and more time doing fun stuff! And good god girl put some sunscreen on!!

  9. I know what you mean...and besides, it's summer!!! Live it up!

I was already following you (naturally), but just popped over to say Congrats on your FTLOB feature!

  10. No need to explain, apologize or anything else; get out there and enjoy the world around you.

A lot of us feel pressured to keep up with posts and not overlook following-up on comments left on our blogs; writing should be a labor of love not just labor!

Have a ball and write when you can.

  11. Found your blog off of for the love of blogs(: I love hockey & traveling as well! I'm totally not one that posts everyday!

  12. I'm glad you said that! I was just thinking about how I didn't have the time to blog every single day...life is too busy.

  13. GOOD. FOR. YOU.

I'm back to blogging when inspired, too. It works for me.

  14. Don't stress about the daily blogging - that's the beauty of this whole blog stuff. It's YOUR blog and you get to do what YOU want to do with it! We enjoy your posts but you know what they say - absence makes the heart grow fonder!

  15. good for you girl!!!!!!! blogging should ALWAYS take a backseat to having fun and living life! and im still sticking around for your posts in between all that :)

  16. and I've decided to follow you, I see you have a list too. I'm working on a 101 list.

  17. Amen sista! Blogging is a lot of work (more than people realize and definitely more than I thought when I first started) and the minute it starts to become a chore and burden is the time to unplug and live life for a while :) I for one (and I know there are others) will be here waiting patiently to hear all about it when you get back!

  18. I can totally relate ... feeling guilty for not posting each and every day is something I think about at least once a day just because I know how much some of my readers look forward to some of the posts (and the interaction that comes with obtaining regular followers is something that I enjoy - and consider a bonus of the blog)! But the thing about starting my blogs to begin with (for me, anyway) was that it was something enjoyable for me; NOT A JOB and sometimes it can get to that point and unfortunately feel that way which defeats their entire purpose. So as I read this post, I was happy to know that I wasn't the only one who feels this way and now I must take a lesson from it ... that my blogs can't be the only other thing in my life besides outside of work because its one of the reasons it gets to feel like work. I have to be more well-rounded, spontaneus and include more fun things in my life - not just one thing.

While I will miss your frequest posts, I can fully understand how you feel and admire the fact that you're taking responsibility to enjoy your life more by knowing what it takes for you to do that (and I will try and take your lead!)! BEST WISHES!!

  19. PS -- it's actually been about A WEEK since I posted on either of my blogs and even longer that I've actually followed the "schedule" I've set for the one (so you're still doing better than I am with your blog!)! ; D

  20. Good for you! I'm totally in touch with this right now as well. My husband & I just moved almost all the way across the country and although I documented the entire trip I have a feeling my blog is going to go on another hiatus while I go out and live in order to find stuff that's worth writing about! Glad to hear you're feeling happy & looking forward to getting out there in the sun & fun again! Enjoy the break and have a blast!

  21. I totally agree! I have felt the same way. I don't regret what I have been doing, basically enjoying my summer, but I still want to blog! I love yours and won't leave! :) Have fun, there is more to life!

  22. I am glad you are feeling more refreshed and happier! We all go through rougher patches and stages of depression, but we all know, there is always sunlight after the rain! I have never managed to post daily and always wonder how you ladies do it. . .my life has never let me do that! I post when I can, and I absolutely understand that that is what you are going to do. Life outside the cyber world is hands down more important ;-) Enjoy your summer, sweetie!

  23. Good idea! You'll go crazy trying to keep up with how fast-paced the web is... and even crazier when you realize you haven't been able to keep up with the family, friends and experiences right in front of you. I find a lot of bloggers are totally obsessed with having 1000 followers and being the go-to person for everything. I decided early on in my blogging to make it a creative accessory to my life, sharing what I've done on a new journey I embarked on.

Glad to hear you're taking your life back into your own hands :)
